Itinerary Marrakech to Fes desert tours via Merzouga
Day 1: Marrakesh - Atlas Mountains–Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley
After breakfast, As you leave Marrakech, ahead into the High Atlas Mountains. Our route follows the same caravans used centuries ago, to bring into Marrakech gold and precious wood from the other side of the ocean of sand, the Sahara. You will be crossing Tizi n Tichka pass, at 2260 meters high. Once over the pass, you’ll get amazing panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and the houses of its indigenous villages. Next, we will visit Ait Ben Haddou, one of the geological wonders of the world, which has been kept maintained throughout the millennium.
Continue to Ouarzazate and stop for a lunch [own expense]. On to yet another lush area, nested between the deserted crest and the desolate plateaus: Skoura palm grove. Then, our trip ‘Marrakech to Fes Morocco desert’ reaches Kelaa des Mgouna, famous for the nearby Valley of Roses and “Rose Festival”, where at the end of a 3 day celebration usually held in May, a local girl is crowned “Rose Queen”. The most looked after the product is eaude-rose and two factories in the area distill and export the product. Further on, Boumalne Dades follows the starting point to explore the spectacular Dades Gorge, a lush carpet set against the massive rocks and quite popular among those interested to trek. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Dades Gorge.
Day 2: Dades Valley-Todra Gogres-Tinejdad-Erfoud–Rissani-Merzouga
Back on the road, our first stop is Tinghir (Tinghir), with its vast palm grove, palaces built into the rocky hills above it, and the mysterious decaying Jewish Quarter. For generations, Tinghir was a stop over for the nomadic Berber tribes that traveled from the mountains north into the desert during the winter months. A somewhat understated hidden gem is the 19th-century adobe mosque that sits inside old dilapidated mansions, a photography enthusiast’s paradise. Just 15 km from Tinghir, the Todra Gorges offer a captivating spectacle with its crystal clear river emanating from it, the color of its massive walls changing to a magical effect as the day approaches. Its 300_meter (1,000_foot) walls are home to more than 150 cul-de-sacs and at any time of day, you can catch a glimpse of someone climbing their way into the giant walls.
Before reaching Merzouga where the tarmac ends, we pass Erfoud and Rissani. In Erfoud, we may stop for a visit at Musee des Oasis (optional) if time allows. Rissani used to serve as the last stop on the great caravan routes south and gold and slave auctions were taking place here as late as the 1800s. Before it, the caravan trade and the most important city in Morocco was Sijilmasa, the ruins of which lie opposite Rissani. From its gates, Ibn Battuta and Leo Africanus left Morocco to embark on their illustrious journeys across the Sahara into African countries. Soon after we reach Merzouga and in the distance, you glimpse the first leviathans of sand forming the Sahara: the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Day 3: Merzouga–Nomads Families–Khamlia Village–Erg Chebbi
This is a finished Desert day. “Date with the dawn” If you are In the desert, it’s completely worth rising ahead of schedule to think about the most fantastic dawn you’ve at any point seen at the highest point of a ridge near the camp and appreciate this scene that is an endowment of nature. After dawn, we profit to Merzouga for the camels where a generous breakfast is sitting tight for us. At that point, we’ll skirt the Erg Chebbi, an extraordinary expansion of the sandy Sahara desert where we can locate the Big Dune of Erg Chebbi Morocco. which has more than 250mts high. We proceed with then by the street that was some time ago utilized for the “Paris—Dakar” and finishes in the mountains that limit with Angelia.
Stop at Tissardmin desert garden where we can discover fossil quarries despite everything present in the region,
we proceed with than by a street where we can see migrant settlements and gain proficiency with their privileged insights and habits. The following stop will be at a perspective to examine the gap Erg Chebbi. We’ll arrive at then Kamilia Village, initially from Mali, where we’ll take a loosening up cup of tea in the interim we tune in to a show of the otherworldly music of Gnawa.
We continue back to Merzouga, after relaxing few minutes in Merzouga, we go to ride the camels who are waiting to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes. We will spend the night in a camp (Nomad Berber tents) with drums music in the middle of the Sahara, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise, when we arrive at the camp we go to a high dune to see the sunset, we will spend the night in nomad tents.
Day 4: Merzouga–Ziz Valley–Cedar forests and monkey troupes of Azrou–Fes
Waking early we will climb the sand dunes to see the sun come up over the desert. The sands are always changing, but our experienced drivers know the undulations and slopes of the surrounding dunes, and that they will take us to a fantastic viewpoint to enjoy the sunrise. We’ll watch the sun’s first golden rays strike the tawny desert dunes and then return to our encampment for a hearty breakfast. Then leaving the desert behind.
You’ll see a great many palm trees along the 20km of the street. Along these lines drives us to the Ziz valley, which waterway descends from the high Atlas and feeds the palm woods. Here we make a prevent and from this high perspective, appreciate a grand perspective on the valley and the town of Aoufous. We make another stop in Midelt, just in the core of the Atlas where you’ll possess free energy
Toward the evening we proceed with our way through the Cedar Woods where, on the off chance that we are fortunate, we’ll see a few monkeys. The following spot we’ll visit is the city of Ifrane, arranged in the northwestern incline of the Middle Atlas at 1630 meters over the water level. Its wide roads, its urban advancement with flawless cleanness, the nurseries, the green territories, and its engineering make this city resemble a swiss town. Ifrane feels lost in Morocco. That is the reason it’s named Moroccan Switzerland, and if that is insufficient it has a significant ski resort, Michlifen, Around 6:30 pm we show up at Fez, move to the lodging, the 3 days Marrakech to Fes Morocco desert by means of the desert ends at Fes.
